This has certainly been a busy term so far for the HSIE department. In History classes, students have been busy learning about Ancient Egypt and Ancient China, the Conquest of the Americas by the Spanish, Popular Culture since 1945, Russia and the Soviet Union under Stalin, and the making of modern South Africa. In Geography students have studied Human Wellbeing, Changing Places and Urban Places . Units such as Travel, Law in Action, Management of Business, Finance and Human Resources have given students insight into the business world. In Studies of Religion, we have begun our unit study of Christianity. We certainly have a wide range of topics going on in our department!
Our inaugural St Peter’s History Week was fun for all involved. From Kindergarten to Year 12, students had numerous activities to observe or participate in. Some highlights were the Years 3, 5 & 7 Archaeological Digs, Year 8 Aztec Cooking, Years 9 & 10 artefact identification competition, Junior School competitions and old fashioned games afternoon. There was even a teacher dress up day! It was a huge week with lots of fun and learning happening. Well done to all who got involved.
