St Peter's News

Week 2 Term 1 Newsletter:

A BIG WELCOME to all NEW St Peter’s families and welcome back to all those returning students. We are looking forward to another fantastic, fun filled, full year of sport in 2018!

2018 brings another year of opportunity for students at St Peter’s to participate in a wide variety of sporting activities. I am extremely excited to be facilitating another year of Sport at the College and am looking forward to another year of sporting success in 2018.

A few key points in Sport at the beginning of the year:

College Sport Website:

The College (and myself) are very excited to launch the brand-new Sport homepage on the College website. The Sport webpage will be a “one stop shop” for all things sport at the College. Information regarding carnivals, representative sports pathways, the sports directory, photograph galleries etc can all be accessed through this site. I am hoping that this will provide another communication pathway to parents and families and highlight the amazing success that St Peters’ has on the sporting field. Simply go the College website at http://www.stpetersbroulee.nsw.edu.au/ and select the Sport tab on the homepage banner.

Junior and Senior Swimming Carnivals

The college swimming carnivals are fast approaching with the Senior Carnival (14/2/18) and Junior Carnival (15/2/18) being held at the Batemans Bay Swimming Centre. Parents are advised to complete the permission notes for the carnivals via Parent Paperwork.

Students will have the opportunity on the day to nominate for events based on being in either the “Championship race” where students have the opportunity to progress to SASSA level or the “Non-Championship” race which will encourage greater participation of non-competitive students. Students participating in the long-distance events (100m Freestyle, 200m IM) are asked to be at the pool by 8:30am to complete these events prior to the carnival starting. I look forward to seeing the Sporting House competition alive at this event and I wish all houses the best of luck. GO BURTON!

School Sport (7-10):

Students in 7-10 have started their School Sports Program this week where students have been participating in a variety of sports which focus on participation and basic fundamental movement skills. Participation and results from School Sport contribute to the overall house points competition. Students and parents are reminded that full sports uniform is required on these days to ensure safe participation in activities. Students must wear a hat during school sport and it is recommended that they have a drink bottle and sunscreen as well.

Key Dates Coming Up:

  • SASSA Touch Football (U15’s and Opens Boys/Girls) February 23rd
  • SASSA Swimming (Junior and Senior School) 1st March 2018.
  • SASSA Netball (Primary, U15’s and Open Girls) 9th March 2018.
  • SASSA Soccer (Junior and Senior School) 20th March 2018.

Student Success:

St Peter’s has many students who participate in sport at a Local, Regional, State and National level outside of school. As a Sport Department we LOVE hearing of St Peter’s Students’ Sporting Success! If you happen to take any pictures at your child’s co-curricular matches, or your child has had some sporting success outside the College; please email us at l.adams@stpetersbroulee.nsw.edu.au. Alternatively, our brand new Sport homepage on the College website has an option to “Tell us about your sporting success” tab where this information can be sent to the school via the College website.
